Trucking Trees for Christmas

Howdy and Mabuhay, friends.
I found you through the fog this week. We’re getting ready for Christmas at the house, and the holiday records are on deep rotation over here. Lights up. Coffee on. The kind of days where music sets the pace.
There’s no California Spotlight Artist this week, and that was intentional. I wanted to stay with Christmas songs in the first segment, then ease into the rest of the hour naturally. A mix of Western swing and honky-tonk artists who don’t always get named first, but always hold the room.
We start nice and easy with Jimmy Wakely, a Western singer and swinger who made California home. He joined Gene Autry’s Melody Ranch radio show, starred in B-Western films, signed with Decca, and built a whole career from the West Coast. “It’s Christmas” felt like the right way to open the door
