Brazos Valley Boys – Swingin’ Our Way

New Review by Rick Huff " Best of the West Reviews ", Brazos Valley Boys Swingin' Our Way

Brazos Valley Boys
Swingin’ Our Way

Yes, it’s those “Brazos Valley Boys!” The band founded seventy-five years ago by Hank Thompson and, since his passing in 2007, headed up by Morey Sullivan. The pedigree of that opening sentence tells you the quality of the product you will find here.

This is sheer Western Swing art with a perfect mix of the boot scooters’ favorite tempos, placed in the ideal ratio of fast to slow. Added incentives to bring this collection into your own “collection” are guest appearances by Asleep At The Wheel’s Ray Benson (“That’s Life”) and a Rex Allen, Jr. duet with lead vocalist Sullivan (“Midnight/Brain Cloudy Blues”). The remainder of the CD’s tracks are “Blues For Dixie,” “Do Nothin’ Till You Hear From Me,” “This Masquerade,” “Hallelujah I Love Her So,” “In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning” and the band’s set closer “I Love Being Here With You.” Twelve tracks, twelve picks!

If you require it, here is one more stellar reason to buy. All proceeds from its sale are earmarked for KIND, Kids In Need Of Defense (supportkind.org). Need I add, very highly recommended!

CD: $15 + $5 s/h through brazosvalleyboys.com and through amazon.com
