Special The Soda Crackers Band

Happy Thanksgiving. If you’re reading this, you’re part of why this exists.
I woke up this morning thinking about the people who showed up. The ones who listened when Mae Out West was just an idea, who shared it when it was new, who keep coming back. That’s why today matters. Mae Out West premieres on Radio Goldfield across Nevada: Goldfield (KGFN 89.1), Dyer/Fishlake Valley (KDVR 90.9), Hadley/Round Mountain (KHRM 90.3), Beatty (99.5), and Hawthorne (92.1). None of this happens without you.
This week’s California Spotlight goes to The Soda Crackers. Their new album drops in December. California’s been breeding honky tonk and Western swing talent since before most people were paying attention. These guys prove it never stopped. Clean tone, tight rhythm, the kind of two-step that’ll thrill you.
We’re opening with Riders in the Sky and closing with Gram Parsons. Bob Wills, Billy Mize, Skeets McDonald, Dottie West, and Bob Rohan hold the middle.
Red Volkaert on his guitar. Sons of the Pioneers on the night herd.
The playlist moves between eras without apology. That’s the point. This music doesn’t live in a museum.
Life doesn’t always cooperate. But this musical community does. The artists who keep playing, the dancers who keep showing up, the listeners who give a damn. That’s the real currency.
Thanks a lot.
Mae ❤️
